Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) Policy
The Jurnal Teknik Informatika C.I.T Medicom acknowledges the rapid advancement of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) technologies and their increasing use in academic research and writing. This policy aims to ensure that the use of GenAI in manuscript preparation complies with academic integrity, maintains scholarly credibility, and prevents ethical violations in publication.
1. General Statement
Jurnal Teknik Informatika C.I.T Medicom allows the limited and responsible use of GenAI tools under strict conditions. Authors remain fully responsible for all content submitted, including any text, data, or images generated or assisted by AI tools.
2. Permitted Uses of GenAI
Authors are allowed to use GenAI tools for non-substantive assistance, including:
- Language-related improvements, such as:
- grammar and spelling correction,
- clarity enhancement and sentence restructuring,
- proofreading for consistency of writing style.
- Formatting assistance, including:
- adjusting reference style,
- citation formatting according to the journal’s guidelines.
- AI-based data analysis, provided that:
- the GenAI or AI-based tools, models, and platforms used are clearly described in the Methodology section, and
- the analytical procedures are transparent and reproducible.
- Non-research illustrative outputs, such as:
- conceptual diagrams,
- workflow charts,
- visual representations of theoretical or methodological frameworks.
3. Prohibited Uses of GenAI
Authors are strictly prohibited from using GenAI tools to:
- generate fabricated, false, or unverifiable research data,
- create fictional experimental results, analyses, or findings,
- draft an entire manuscript in a way that obscures the authors’ own intellectual contribution,
- produce fake citations or references that do not correspond to real, verifiable sources,
- manipulate images, charts, or datasets in a misleading or deceptive manner.
4. Transparency Requirements
Any use of GenAI tools must be explicitly disclosed in the manuscript. Authors must clearly state:
- the name of the GenAI tool (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.),
- the version used (if available),
- the specific purpose for which the tool was used.
Recommended disclosure statement (to be placed in the Acknowledgments section):
The authors used a Generative AI tool (tool name, version) for language editing assistance without altering the scientific content of the manuscript.
If GenAI was used for data processing, modelling, or analysis, this must be described clearly and in detail in the Methodology section, including the model type, parameters where relevant, and any limitations.
5. Academic Responsibility
Regardless of GenAI use, the full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the manuscript lies with the authors. Authors are responsible for:
- scientific validity of methods, data, and conclusions,
- originality and avoidance of plagiarism,
- correct and verifiable citations and references,
- compliance with ethical standards in research and publication.
In line with guidelines from COPE, Elsevier, IEEE, and other major academic publishers, GenAI tools cannot be considered or listed as authors, nor can they be credited as co-authors.
6. Detection, Verification, and Audit
Jurnal Teknik Informatika C.I.T Medicom reserves the right to:
- use AI-detection tools to assess the extent of GenAI involvement in a manuscript,
- request raw data, analysis scripts, or original files for verification purposes,
- seek clarification from authors regarding methods, data, or wording suspected to be AI-generated,
- reject or retract manuscripts that are found to violate this GenAI Policy.
7. Consequences of Policy Violations
Any breach of this GenAI Policy may result in one or more of the following actions:
- mandatory revision before further review or acceptance,
- outright rejection of the manuscript,
- retraction of the article if the violation is discovered after publication,
- notification to the authors’ affiliated institutions,
- a possible ban on future submissions to Jurnal Teknik Informatika C.I.T Medicom in severe or repeated cases.
By submitting a manuscript to Jurnal Teknik Informatika C.I.T Medicom, authors acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to comply with this Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) Policy.
